Assistant Baseball Coach Jared Grove | Penn College Wildcats
Three players from Penn College's baseball team have been recognized on the 2024 United East Volt Division All-Conference teams. The announcement was made on Wednesday. Senior Quinn Hanafin, sophomore Dallas Griess, and freshman Sam Staib received their first career postseason honors.
Dallas Griess was named to the All-Conference First Team and also earned the title of Rookie of the Year. As a center fielder, he led the Wildcats in almost every statistical category. He ended the season with a .389 batting average, ranking 11th in the conference. His performance included a .667 slugging percentage and an identical on-base percentage. Throughout his first season with PCT baseball, Griess accumulated 44 hits, seven doubles, four triples, five home runs, and scored 38 runs. Notably, he achieved 13 multi-hit games including six three-hit games and had a standout performance against Lancaster Bible with a 4-for-5 day scoring four runs.
Quinn Hanafin secured a place as a second-team designated hitter (DH). He finished second on the team with a .317 batting average and recorded 39 hits along with two home runs. Hanafin tied for the team lead in doubles at seven and led with 27 RBIs this season. His contributions included ten multi-hit games featuring three three-hit games and multiple occasions where he batted in three RBIs.
Sam Staib earned second-team honors as a relief pitcher during his freshman year after making 17 appearances. Staib maintained a 2.39 ERA over his innings pitched while securing three wins across 26.1 innings pitched. He struck out 20 batters while allowing only 17 hits and seven earned runs, holding opposing hitters to just a .179 batting average.
