State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Joe Hamm have announced that $600,000 in state funding has been allocated to the Jersey Shore Area School District in Lycoming County. The funds are designated for improvements to the HVAC system at Jersey Shore Area High School. This decision was made during a meeting of the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) and approved through its Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program.
Senator Yaw emphasized the importance of supporting local schools' infrastructure, noting, "It is critical that we support efforts to improve aging infrastructure in many of our local schools, some of which haven’t seen significant upgrades in decades." He expressed gratitude towards Representative Hamm for his collaboration in securing this funding.
Representative Hamm also highlighted the significance of this financial support, stating, "This money will allow Jersey Shore Area School District to make critical upgrades to the high school’s HVAC system." He commended the district's proactive stance on infrastructure maintenance and acknowledged Senator Yaw's role in obtaining these funds.
The funding will specifically target replacing the ventilation system within the Career and Technical Education building and maintenance shop at the high school. This upgrade aims to mitigate fire risks and enhance air quality across these facilities.
The Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program supports eligible facility improvement projects for public school districts and area career and technical schools. It is managed by the Department of Community and Economic Development under CFA's oversight.
