Seniors Dylan Throop and Luke Johnson achieved top-10 finishes in the men's 8k race at the Princeton Fall Classic. The University of Pennsylvania's men's cross country team secured seventh place, while the women's team finished 14th.
Dylan Throop was the first to finish for the Quakers, placing fifth with a personal-best time of 22:50.9. All five top male runners from Penn set personal records on the Princeton course. Luke Johnson came in 10th among 249 competitors, also achieving a personal best with a time of 23:07.1. George Keen and Nick Carpenter followed with times of 23:54.9 and 24:05.8, respectively, contributing to their team's score alongside Edwin Klanke, who completed his run in 24:18.2.
On the women's side, Miranda Schriver led with a personal-best time of 20:55.7, finishing in 62nd place. Freshman L'Mio Edwards improved her season record by over half a minute, clocking in at 20:57.6, just ahead of Olivia Williams' time of 21:00.6.
Katie Pou and Krya Compton also set personal records in their races with times of 21:20.7 and 21:23.4 respectively, culminating in a total team score of 396 points for Penn women.
The Penn men’s team notably defeated three Mid-Atlantic Region top-15 ranked teams; Penn State, Rutgers, and Monmouth during this event.
Looking forward, Penn will head to Haverford for the Haverford Invitational on October 25 to conclude their regular season.
