Two first-half goals and a hat-trick by Megan Kurian led Penn College to a 6-0 victory over Wilson in the United East Conference on Wednesday evening at UPMC Field. The win secured Penn College's third consecutive playoff appearance and eighth postseason berth in the NCAA era. The Wildcats maintain an unbeaten record with a 4-0-1 mark in the UEC, 11-0-4 overall, while Wilson drops to 2-3-0, 9-3-2 overall.
Penn College applied early pressure and maintained possession on Wilson's side of the field, leading to their second corner kick in the 16th minute. Cassie Johnson delivered from the left corner, allowing Lucy Kontir to score the opening goal at 15:31.
A minute later, Makayla Bucks connected with Kurian for her 19th goal of the season, giving Penn College a 2-0 lead at halftime. Kurian completed her hat-trick with goals at the 49:55 and 55:47 marks in the second half. Following a foul by Wilson outside the penalty area, Cassie Johnson scored her sixth goal of the year in the 64th minute. An own goal by Wilson off an Ashley Gordon corner rounded out the scoring at 6-0.
Penn College outshot Wilson, tallying seven corners and holding them to just three shots (one on target). Nicole Lichtinger made one save for her tenth shutout of the season.
The Wildcats will play their final road game of the regular season against Lancaster Bible on Saturday at 1 p.m.
