Penn College faced a challenging match against Montclair State, resulting in a 16-6 defeat during a nonconference men's lacrosse game on Saturday. This loss places the Wildcats at 0-3 for the season, while the Red Hawks begin their campaign with a 1-0 record.

Montclair State established an early advantage by securing a 4-0 lead in the first quarter. Austin Callahan managed to assist Sam Hills in scoring Penn College's initial goal. The Red Hawks responded with another series of four consecutive goals before Harrison Schlachta added to Penn College's scoreline, bringing it to 8-2 just over seven minutes before halftime. Montclair closed the half leading 9-2 after adding one more goal.

In the third quarter, following an early score by Montclair, Penn College attempted to narrow the gap with two successive goals. Gabe McClune set up Aidan McFalls at 12:20 and Brendan Kuczma assisted Jake Small at 10:18, making it 10-4. However, Montclair continued their offensive push by concluding the third quarter with two additional goals and starting the fourth with four more, extending their lead to 16-4. The Wildcats managed to add two final goals through Devin Page and AJ Dotson.

Statistically, Montclair dominated by outshooting Penn College (PCT) 53-29 and winning most of the faceoffs (19 out of 26). Alex Hammond contributed defensively for Penn College by blocking 13 shots.

Looking ahead, Penn College will play again on March 3 against William Peace.
