Penn College ties sixth in Pennsylvania Classic opening round

After the first round of the Pennsylvania Classic, Penn College's men's golf team scored 315, placing them in a tie for sixth among 18 teams. Gavin Baer led the team with a score of 77, tying him for 24th out of 103 individual competitors.

Baer completed the par-71, 6,328-yard Penn State White Course at six over par. Other scores for Penn College included Peyton Mussina with a 78, tying for 29th; Brady Hardy with a 79, tying for 34th; Will Orwig with an 81, tying for 48th; and Trevor Keaton with an 84, tying for 68th. The team's total was calculated using the four lowest scores.

Allegheny led the team standings with a score of 289. Nadir Kahn from Allegheny topped individual performances by shooting a two-under-par round of 69 after completing the back nine in four-under-par.

The tournament continues Saturday on the Penn State Blue Course at Penn State Altoona starting at 11 a.m.
