Penn College's Peyton Mussina secured second place at the Gettysburg Spring Shootout held at Penn National Golf Club in Fayetteville. The Wildcats ended up in seventh position among 12 teams, with team scores improving on Sunday compared to Saturday.
Mussina started strong with a 3-under 69 on Saturday and followed it with an even-par 72 on Sunday, totaling 141. Other notable performances for the Wildcats included Gavin Baer, who tied for 16th with rounds of 78-72—150; Will Orwig, tying for 44th with scores of 85-75—160; Brady Handy, tying for 53rd after shooting 87-78—165; and Trevor Keaton finishing in 56th place with rounds of 85-82—167. Only the four lowest scores contributed to the team's total score.
The competition saw Gettysburg "A" taking the top spot with rounds of 296-287—583. They were followed by Franklin & Marshall at 302-292—594, McDaniel at 298-297—595, Swarthmore at 302-297—599, Drew at 311-295—606, Stevens at 307-302—609, and Penn College at 317-297—614. Other participants included Gettysburg "B," Dickinson, SUNY Delhi, Stephenson, and Susquehanna.
Charlie Dolan from McDaniel was the medalist of the event with a total score of 140 from rounds of 70 each day, finishing one stroke ahead of Mussina.
Next weekend, Penn College will defend its United East Championship title at Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley.
