Penn College's men's soccer team began its United East schedule with a 4-1 victory over Rosemont on Saturday at UPMC Field in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Wildcats now hold a record of 6-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference, while the Ravens dropped to 2-4-3 overall and 0-1 in the United East.
The scoring started when Jack Lenosky assisted Logan Pietrzak in the 29th minute, giving Penn College a 1-0 lead. Jimmy Friedman added an unassisted goal in the 57th minute to make it 2-0. Lenosky then delivered a corner kick that Alex Heiser converted in the 69th minute, extending the lead to 3-0. Rosemont managed to score in the 75th minute, but Austin Stapleton responded quickly by converting a pass from Matt Neeson in the 79th minute.
Rosemont had more shots than Penn College, outshooting them 20-11 (9-8 on-goal) and also held an advantage in corner kicks with a count of 9-2.
Cole Catherman made eight saves for Penn College, improving his record to 5-2.
Next up for Penn College is a match against Penn State Abington on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
