Penn College cross-country teams place third at Cougar Classic

DALLAS, Pa. — Penn College's men placed third in a five-team field and its women were third among four teams in Saturday's Misericordia University Cougar Classic cross-country races.

Mitchell Campbell led the Penn College men's team with an eighth-place finish over an 8K course in 29:04. Following him were Ethan Knapp, who finished 11th in 29:44; Matthew Woolcock, who placed 14th in 29:57; Chase Ebeling, who came in 17th at 30:20; and Jacob Parker, who secured the 20th position with a time of 30:33.

Misericordia won the men's team title with 23 points, followed by Wilkes University with 60 points, Penn College with 64 points, Penn State Berks with 96 points, and SUNY Maritime with 128 points. Individually, Misericordia's Trey Rhinehart took top honors among the 60 runners with a time of 27:06.

On the women's side for Penn College, Elina Brady finished ninth in her race over a 6K course with a time of 28:53. She was followed by Isabella Kerlin at the 17th spot in 29:15; Lillian DePew at the 23rd spot in 30:40; Karleigh Hunter at the 25th spot in 31:27; and Kayleigh Miller at the 32nd spot in a time of 33:40.

Misericordia claimed the women's team crown with a score of 15 points. Wilkes University followed with a score of 67 points, while Penn College scored third place with a total of 74 points. SUNY Maritime came fourth scoring a total of 84 points. Individually, Misericordia's Grace Gallagher topped the field of 46 runners finishing her race in 23:22.

Next up for Penn College teams is competition scheduled for September 28 at 10 a.m., during Lock Haven University's Invitational.
