Carolyn McKeon Head Women's Volleyball Coach | Penn College Wildcats

Penn College secured its first victory of the season with a 3-1 win over Penn State Mont Alto in a nonconference women's volleyball match on Monday. The Wildcats improved their record to 1-5, while the Nittany Lions fell to 2-5.

The Wildcats took an early lead by winning the first two sets with scores of 25-21 and 25-10. Although they faced a setback in the third set, losing 21-25, they rallied to clinch the fourth set with a narrow 26-24 victory.

Key performers for Penn College included Nevaeh Ward with 16 kills and Hailey DeBrody with 15 kills. Ava Harple contributed ten kills. DeBrody also led in aces with four, followed by Harple and Jade Williams, each adding one ace. In blocking, DeBrody recorded three blocks, while Kathryn Burnett and Ward each had one block.

Burnett excelled in assists with a total of 40, supported by Jo Hess and Harple who had three and two assists respectively. On defense, Ward made significant contributions with 17 digs, followed by Burnett's 14 digs and Harple's 13 digs.

Penn College is scheduled to play next on Tuesday at 7 p.m., facing Penn State Great Allegheny.
