Penn College secured a 2-1 victory over Utica in a nonconference women's soccer match on Wednesday, held in Utica, N.Y. The Wildcats now hold a record of 1-0-1, while the Pioneers are at 1-1.

The Wildcats took an early lead with Megan Kurian scoring from Cassie Johnson's through-ball in the second minute. Johnson extended the lead to 2-0 by finishing off a pass from Holly Herbert in the 13th minute. Utica responded with a goal in the 54th minute, making it 2-1.

Despite outshooting Penn College 20-15 and having a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks, Utica was unable to secure the win. Morgan Solano contributed significantly to Penn College's victory by saving seven shots on goal.

Penn College is set to host Elmira College for its home opener on Saturday at 4 p.m.
