Penn College cross-country teams faced Lycoming College in their season openers on Tuesday, with the men securing a victory and the women experiencing a defeat. The men's team triumphed with a score of 17-46, while the women's team fell short, losing 20-36.
For Penn College's men's team, Matthew Woolcock led the pack by finishing first with a time of 21:21. He was followed by Mitchell Campbell in second place at 21:36 and Ethan Knapp in third at 22:07. Alec Rees secured fifth place with a time of 22:34, and Chase Ebeling came in sixth at 23:09.
Ken Draper from Lycoming College finished fourth with a time of 22:14.
On the women's side for Penn College, Elaina Brady placed third with a time of 19:34. Isabella Kerlin finished sixth at 20:42, Lillian DePew took seventh place at 21:17, Kayleigh Miller was ninth at 23:21, and Adelyn McDermott placed eleventh with a time of 25:08.
Katryn Yocum from Lycoming led the women's field with a finish time of 18:26.
Next up for Penn College is participation in the Lebanon Valley College Dutchmen Invitational scheduled for Saturday at 10:15 a.m.
