State Sen. Gene Yaw and State Rep. Jamie Flick have disclosed that over $1 million in state funding has been allocated to two projects in Lycoming and Union Counties through Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA). The awards were deliberated and confirmed during the CFA Board meeting held on Mar 26, 2024, sanctioned through the Authority’s Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) program.
Sen. Yaw emphasized the significance of enhancing transportation infrastructure, stating, “Maintaining and improving our roads, bridges, and local streetscapes is an essential component of ensuring the safety and mobility of residents and other commuters who travel them each day.”
Rep. Flick echoed Sen. Yaw's sentiments, expressing satisfaction with the funding allocation towards roadway projects in the community. Flick added, “I’m pleased to have worked with Sen. Yaw on this initiative as we continue our focus on helping our municipalities upgrade and improve critical infrastructure that supports our residents and businesses.”
The largest portion of the funding, amounting to $617,000, was granted to Clinton Township for improvements along Pinchtown Road. Union County also secured $475,000 for the replacement of six municipal bridges in various locations within the county.
Holly Wertz, Clinton Township Secretary and Treasurer, acknowledged the significance of the grant, stating, “This grant will help us to complete needed improvements to one of the two most heavily traveled, municipal-owned roads in Clinton Township.” Wertz extended gratitude to Sen. Yaw, Rep. Flick, the County Commissioners, and the staff involved in securing the grant.
The Multimodal Transportation Fund aims to stimulate economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for Pennsylvania residents. The funds are earmarked for the enhancement of transportation assets, streetscape development, pedestrian safety, and transit-oriented development within existing communities.
