State Sen. Gene Yaw and State Rep. Clint Owlett have announced the allocation of $550,000 in state funding for two projects in Tioga County. The funds have been awarded through Pennsylvania’s Commonwealth Financing Authority's Multimodal Transportation Fund program.

Yaw emphasized the importance of the projects, stating, “Maintaining and improving our roads, bridges, and local streetscapes is an essential component of ensuring the safety and mobility of residents and other commuters who travel them each day. I was pleased to work with Rep. Owlett and our local officials to help make these projects a reality.”

Rep. Owlett echoed Yaw's sentiments, highlighting the significance of the grants in enhancing safety and accessibility for residents. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate on these projects, stating, “Whether we’re helping to replace a flood-damaged bridge or boosting pedestrian safety, these grants are important investments in making sure our residents can safely get where they need to go. I appreciate the opportunity to work with Sen. Yaw and our local officials to help move these projects across the finish line.”

The largest award of $350,000 was granted to Roseville Borough for the replacement of the Benson Avenue Bridge. Donna Baker, the President of Roseville Borough Council, expressed gratitude for the support, saying, “As a small community, we didn’t have the money to replace it and we’re so appreciative of the help from Sen. Yaw and Rep. Owlett to secure this grant.”

Additionally, the Borough of Wellsboro received $200,000 to improve Main Street sidewalks. Louis Rachiele, the Wellsboro Borough Manager, conveyed appreciation for the funding, stating, “This contribution will improve access to our local businesses and help maintain the safety of our sidewalks.”

The Multimodal Transportation Fund aims to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable transportation system for Pennsylvania residents. The funds support various transportation enhancement projects, including streetscape improvements, pedestrian safety measures, and transit-oriented development.
