The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee will be joining forces with the Ohio House of Representatives Public Utilities Committee, the Ohio House of Representatives Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and the Ohio Senate Energy and Public Utilities Committee for a hearing on energy reliability, sustainability, and affordability. The hearing is scheduled to take place on Thursday, February 1st at 10 a.m. in room 313 of the Ohio State House in Columbus, OH.

The list of distinguished testifiers includes Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, Asim Haque, PJM Interconnection Senior Vice President of State & Member Services, Jennifer French, Public Utilities Commission of Ohio chair, and Jim Robb, President and CEO of North America Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), among others.

This hearing will mark the second meeting between the legislators from both states, with the first one taking place in Pittsburgh last November. The first meeting focused on the interstate relationships within the PJM Grid. In July, committee members from both states gathered at Pennsylvania's Capitol Building in Harrisburg to discuss the reliability of the mid-Atlantic power grid managed by PJM, its infrastructure, and the future outlook of the region's power production. The committee chairmen were also among the testifiers at an August meeting of PJM's Board of Managers.

The joint hearing aims to address important issues related to energy reliability, sustainability, and affordability. By bringing together legislators and experts from both Pennsylvania and Ohio, this gathering offers an opportunity for fruitful discussions and the exchange of ideas that can contribute to the development of effective policies and solutions in the energy sector.

This collaborative effort between the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee and their counterparts in Ohio demonstrates a commitment to finding sustainable and affordable solutions to the challenges facing the energy industry. The participation of key figures such as Lt. Gov. Jon Husted, Asim Haque, Jennifer French, and Jim Robb ensures that a wide range of perspectives will be heard and considered during the hearing.

The importance of this hearing extends beyond the boundaries of Pennsylvania and Ohio. Energy reliability, sustainability, and affordability are critical issues that affect the entire nation. As such, the outcomes of this hearing have the potential to shape the future of the energy sector and impact the lives of millions of Americans.
