Dec. 19, 2023 - Representative Stephanie Borowicz (Clinton/Union) has recently announced several grants for infrastructure and a community arts program in Union County. Borowicz emphasized her support for these improvements in the infrastructure, stating, "The funding of the project to build a new booster station and to replace an aging water main in Mifflinburg Borough is great news, as is the substantial boost to West Buffalo's pumping station upgrades."

The grants approved by the Commonwealth Finance Authority in Union County include a $500,000 grant for the removal and installation of a booster station and the replacement of a 100-year-old cast iron water main in the Borough of Mifflinburg. Additionally, West Buffalo Township will receive a $150,000 grant to upgrade existing water meters and two pumping stations.

In addition to the infrastructure grants, the Susquehanna Valley Chorale will receive $10,000 to offset revenue lost due to the COVID-19 lockdown. These funds are being provided through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) Local Share Account (LSA) program, which utilizes gaming revenue to support projects in the public interest across the Commonwealth.

This announcement comes as a positive development for Union County, as it will lead to much-needed improvements in the water infrastructure and support the local arts community. The grants will enhance the quality of life for residents and contribute to the overall well-being of the county.
