Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23) has announced an investment of $759,752 in the 23rd District to support and revitalize two freight lines. This investment comes through the state's Rail Transportation Assistance (RTAP) and Rail Freight Assistance (RFAP) programs. The funding aims to recognize the crucial role that freight lines play in the economy and ensure a reliable flow of goods throughout the region.
"These targeted investments recognize the pivotal role freight lines play in grounding our economy and providing a reliable flow of goods throughout the region," Sen. Yaw said. "I look forward to the growth and stability these projects will bring to my district."
The State Transportation Committee has approved the funding for the following projects in Bradford County and Lycoming County. Additionally, North Shore Railroad, located in Northumberland County, will receive $904,288 in funding for mainline rail replacements that operate in the 23rd District.
The Rail Freight Assistance Program (RFAP) and Rail Transportation Assistance Program (RTAP) are administered by the Bureau of Rail, Freight, Ports, and Waterways. In 2023, a total of $42.5 million has been allocated to 25 freight improvement projects across the state.
This investment highlights the commitment of Sen. Gene Yaw to the development and enhancement of the transportation infrastructure in the 23rd District. The projects funded through RTAP and RFAP will not only support the economy but also contribute to the stability and growth of the region.
