Lock Haven University men's track & field standout Ryan Miller (Bradford, Pa./Bradford) has earned another prestigious academic honor after a remarkable season with the LHU indoor and outdoor track & field programs.

 

Today (June 22), the sophomore sprint and mid-distance standout was named an Academic All-American after he earned a spot on the 2021-22 Academic All-America® Men's Track and Field/Cross Country team, which was selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Miller earned a spot on the Third Team.

 

For LHU, Miller is the first men's track & field or cross country athlete to earn the honors since Keith Veldhuis in 2004.

 

In late May, Miller was named to the 2021-22 CoSIDA Division II Academic All-District® 2 Men's Track & Field/Cross Country Team.

 

Miller's 2021-22 campaign was nothing short of spectacular.

 

During the indoor season, he earned All-Region status from the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) in both the individual 400-meter event and the distance medley relay. He won the individual title at 400 meters at the 2021-22 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships and he placed eighth at 200 meters.

 

During the outdoor season, Miller recorded LHU's top times in the 100m, 200m, 400m and 800m events.

 

At the 2022 PSAC Outdoor Championships, Miller finished second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.63. The personal-best effort marked an NCAA Division II Championship provisional-qualifying mark and stands at the fourth-fastest time in school history. Miller also finished sixth at 200 meters and was part of a strong 4x400-meter relay effort.

 

At the conclusion of the outdoor season, Miller was ranked among the top-30 in the PSAC in the 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m events. His 400-meter time of 47.63 was the second-fastest time all year in both the PSAC and the Atlantic Region (DII).
