Lock Haven University Athletics issued the following announcement on Mar. 24.

The Lock Haven University softball team (8-7) dropped a doubleheader to Slippery Rock University (8-10) 3-1 and 4-3 in a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) East-West crossover matchup.

Game 1: L, 3-1

LHU broke the scoreless deadlock in the third inning when Delaney Good (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg) singled to third base and beat out the throw to drive in Riley McClellan (Granville Summit, Pa./Troy).

The 1-0 LHU lead held until the sixth inning when Slippery Rock's Mackenzie Freeman gave The Rock the lead with a three-run homerun. Slippery Rock fended off LHU in the top of the seventh and took game one 3-1.

Madison Waltman (Turbotville, Pa./Warrior Run) started in the circle for LHU. The sophomore held The Rock hitless until the fifth inning, and her only earned runs came by way of a homerun. Waltman struck out four and walked just one across her seven innings of work.

Game 2: L, 4-3

After a scoreless start to game two, Slippery Rock cashed in with three runs in the fourth inning to jump out to the 3-0 lead.

LHU answered right back with a run in the top of the fifth inning to cut the lead to 3-1. Good notched her second RBI of the day when she singled to left field to score Jada Schellhammer (Tamaqua, Pa./Tamaqua).

R. McClellan pulled the Bald Eagles back within one run when she launched a solo homerun in the top of the seventh inning. Good earned a walk in the next at bat as LHU looked for some late heroics. Later in the inning, Haley Lestician (Lawrenceville, N.J./Lawrence) drove Good home on a sacrifice fly to center field to knot the game at 3-3.

In the bottom of the seventh, Slippery Rock notched a walk-off single to earn the 4-3 win in game two.

Kinley Gioglio (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) got the start for the Bald Eagles and pitched the opening three innings, and was not credited with an earned run. Schellhammer came on in relief and pitched the final four innings with one earned run.
