City of Williamsport issued the following announcement on April 1.
Every ten years the Census counts everyone living in the U.S. and it’s meant to count
everyone living in your home on April 1.
Why is the census so important?
The results are used to determine how much funding local communities receive for key
public services like schools, health care centers, and transportation. The count also
determines how many seats each state gets in Congress. State and local officials also
use census counts to draw boundaries for congressional, state legislative, and school
districts.
It’s never been easier to respond to the census without meeting a Census Taker. Make
sure your household is counted!
