A greenhouse at the world's largest indoor lettuce farm and a new police station in Palmerton Borough are moving forward with $2.5 million in state grants. Senator Dave Argall and Representative Doyle Heffley collaborated with local leaders to secure this funding.

Representative Heffley stated, “I’m pleased to see this funding has been awarded to Carbon County, as it will benefit many. This funding will improve public safety by providing the Palmerton Police Department with a state-of-the-art facility. Additionally, Little Leaf Farms, the world’s largest indoor lettuce producer, will create hundreds of valuable jobs as a result of this support. Together, these initiatives promise to have a lasting positive impact on public safety and economic growth.”

Senator Argall added, “By funding these projects, we’ll see new, family-sustaining jobs and make Carbon County safer.”

Little Leaf Farms received $1.5 million for constructing a new greenhouse at their Banks Township facility near McAdoo. The company plans six greenhouses at this location, which is expected to create at least 300 jobs. Currently, three greenhouses are operational with a fourth soon breaking ground.

Palmerton Borough was granted $1 million for building a modern police station. This facility aims to enhance the Palmerton Borough Police Department's emergency response capabilities and improve work efficiency and safety.

The grants were distributed through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, supporting economic development projects with regional significance.
