More than $4.2 million has been allocated to schools in Schuylkill County through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant program. This announcement was made by state Sen. Dave Argall and state Reps. JoAnne Stehr, Dane Watro, Tim Twardzik, and Jamie Barton.

“These state grants are going toward building upgrades that will improve efficiency and lessen the burden on local property taxpayers,” said Watro. He expressed satisfaction in collaborating with Sen. Argall to secure this funding.

Barton emphasized the financial relief this funding provides, stating, “I’m proud to bring this funding back to our schools, minimizing the financial impact these projects will have on students, staff, faculty and taxpayers.”

Stehr highlighted the importance of student safety: “The safety and well-being of our students are top priorities, and these grants will allow our schools to make much-needed improvements.” She noted that this investment is crucial for providing a secure learning environment.

Twardzik also expressed his approval of the funding: “I am proud to see significant funding awarded to our schools in Schuylkill County,” he said. He underscored the importance of modern facilities for educational growth.

Argall pointed out the urgent need for better school infrastructure as chair of the Senate Education Committee: “Outdated school facilities can put student safety in jeopardy and this highly competitive funding is much needed.”

Nine school districts in Schuylkill County were recipients of this grant.
