The University of Pennsylvania men's basketball team is set to begin its 2024-25 season on Monday. The Quakers will travel to New Jersey to face NJIT in what will be the fifth encounter between these two regional teams.

The game is scheduled for November 4, 2024, at 7 p.m. in Newark, N.J., and will be broadcast live on ESPN+. Fans can also listen to the game through the Quaker Audio Network, where Matt Leon will provide play-by-play commentary alongside analysts Brad Fadem and Vince Curran.

This match marks the earliest start date for a season in Penn's program history. Previously, the earliest start was November 5, which occurred in 2019 when Penn defeated Alabama with a score of 81-80.

Penn has a successful track record against NJIT, having won all four previous meetings. Their last matchup took place in January 2014 at Penn with an ending score of 89-74. Overall, Penn holds a strong record against teams currently competing in the America East Conference.

For this season, three transfers have joined the team: Ethan Roberts from Drake, Dylan Williams from Triton College, and Michael Zanoni from Mercer. Additionally, four freshmen have been added to the roster: Bradyn Foster, AJ Levine, Alex Massung, and Michelangelo Oberti.

Returning players include seniors Reese McMullen and Nick Spinoso; junior Cam Thrower; sophomores Sam Brown and Augustus Gerhart; among others who have shown promising performances in past seasons.
