Penn College's tennis teams faced defeats in their recent matches against Penn State Abington, with the men's team losing 7-2 and the women's team falling 9-0. The competitions took place on Thursday in Abington, Pennsylvania.
The results have left the Penn College men with a record of 1-4 in United East (UE) play and 1-8 overall. The women hold a UE record of 1-3 and an overall record of 4-7. On the other hand, Abington's men's team stands at 4-2 UE and 6-7 overall, while their women's team is at 2-2 UE and holds an overall record of 5-9.
In terms of match specifics, "Abington's men won four singles and all three doubles matches," while "its women won all six singles and three doubles matches."
For Penn College men, Logan Ogden secured a win at No. 3 singles with scores of 4-6, 6-3, and 10-4. Matt Williams also triumphed at No. 5 singles with scores of 6-3 and 6-4. In doubles competition for the Wildcat men, Ogden teamed up with Hunter Knosky at No.3 but they lost narrowly with a score of 8-7; similarly, Kyle Shuler paired with Jesse Kight at No.1 lost by a margin of two games, ending their match at an 8-5 scoreline.
For the women’s side from Penn College, Ellen Buckley played competitively in her match at No.1 singles but ultimately was defeated with scores of "6-3" and "6-2."
Looking ahead to future contests, Penn College will face Lancaster Bible College for another UE match scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m.
