A week and a half ago, the Pennsylvania College of Technology men's cross-country team claimed their first United East Conference title, while the women's team placed sixth. Five men and two women earned all-conference honors during this achievement. The teams are now preparing for the NCAA Division III Mid-Atlantic Championships on Saturday.

Coach Tom Leeser highlighted the significance of the upcoming regional meet, stating, "The regional meet brings a next level of competition for our men and women. The Mid-Atlantic Region is a quality region with some of the top Division III teams in the country."

The course at Lock Haven University features a mostly flat grass surface, which is expected to yield fast times under good conditions. "Under good conditions, the times are typically fast, so other athletes will be striving for season-best performances," Leeser noted.

Unfortunately, Penn College's women's team will not have a full squad at regionals. Coach Leeser explained that they would focus on individual performances: "(Senior) Skyelar Splain, of Liverpool, ran at LHU last season and is looking to improve on that finish (189th), while freshmen Elaina Brady, of Big Cove Tannery, and Natalie Greiner, of Mount Joy, will be gaining experience in a big race."

For the men's team, Leeser emphasized refocusing after an emotional conference meet victory. "Our seven runners who finished at Cairn will be racing at LHU," he said. He expressed hope for improving upon last year's 25th place finish: "Improving on last season's 25th place, perhaps a top 20 finish seems reasonable."

Leeser also shared his anticipation for ending their season on Lock Haven's fast course: "We're looking forward to finishing our season on a fast course at Lock Haven."

In previous regional meets from 2017 to 2021, Penn College's men's team has finished between 27th and 37th place.

This year’s Wildcat men's lineup includes sophomore Mitchell Campbell from Riegelsville; sophomore Matt Woolcock from Oil City; junior Alec Rees from Centerport, New York; freshman Holden Furey from Williamsport; freshman Jacob Parker from Weatherly; sophomore Dillon Betts from Manchester, New Jersey; and senior Noah Bowers from Burnham.

At last year's regionals event Campbell placed 70th out of 222 participants while Woolcock was 119th followed by Rees in 164th position with Betts coming in at 185th ahead just slightly before Bowers who took up position number190 respectively

Additionally noteworthy is Coach Leeser's recognition as Coach Of The Year within UE conferences during only his second term leading these young athletes: “I am honored by being awarded 'Coach Of The Year', but it really reflects what kind individuals make up our roster—they've consistently committed themselves towards rigorous training regimes including summer practices alongside challenging workouts—all contributing factors behind forming strong bonds among teammates which hopefully endure long into future,” stated proudly yet humbly himself expressing pride over each member partaking under guidance provided throughout journey together thus far experienced firsthand collectively witnessed firsthand firsthand shared experiences made possible through mutual dedication exhibited
