The University of Pennsylvania's men's basketball team has announced the addition of Dylan Williams, a transfer from Triton College in River Grove, Illinois. The announcement was made by Steve Donahue, the John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men's Basketball at Penn.

Williams, who played a key role in leading Triton College to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) national championship game last season, is expected to bring significant skills to his new team. "I think our fans will really like what they see when Dylan takes the floor," said Donahue. "Dylan is a true point guard, he looks to make his teammates better first. That said, he has the ability to get to the hoop and knock down the three so he's a definite offensive threat. At the other end, he's quick and understands the game and will make us better defensively. I'm excited to see how much he'll help us right away."

Williams stands 5-11 and weighs 175 pounds. He hails from Columbia, South Carolina and attended Irmo High School where he was an outstanding player.

During his time at Triton College in the 2023-24 season, Williams started all 37 games as part of a team that went 34-3 overall. He was third on his team in scoring with an average of 15 points per game and led with 199 assists. Additionally, he recorded 54 steals and averaged 3.8 rebounds per game while making 87 three-pointers at a rate of over 40 percent accuracy from beyond the arc.

In previous seasons, Williams also showed promise at Mineral Area College where he played in most games and led his team in scoring with an average of nearly 11 points per game.

His high school career included lettering five times in basketball as well as notable achievements such as being named a three-time Class 4A All-State selection.

Williams comes from a family with strong basketball connections; his older brother Tyler is currently an assistant men's basketball coach at Binghamton University.

When asked about why he chose Penn for continuing his academic and athletic journey, Williams cited "the culture and the connections" both on and off the court as influential factors.
