The University of Pennsylvania's cross country teams are traveling to Charlottesville, Virginia, for the XC23 Invitational at Panorama Farms on Saturday. This event serves as a preview for the NCAA Championship, which will be held at the same location in November.

The meet features four races with significant Division I participation. The women's competition includes 42 teams, while the men's field has 39 teams. Ivy League schools Cornell, Dartmouth, and Yale will also compete.

For Penn, the women's championship race participants include Maeve Stiles, Olivia Morganti, Lily Murphy, Fabianna Szorenyi, Phoebe White, Katie Pou, Kelly Murray, Bronwyn Patterson, and Kyra Compton. The women's orange race features Zoe Shetty, Laura Baeyens, Lara Cota, Anastasia Russell, and Miranda Schriver.

On the men's side, Troy Hill leads the championship race lineup along with Will Shaughnessy, Luke Johnson, Vidhur Polam, Dylan Throop, Sahil Dodda, Dennis Fortuna, Nick Carpenter and George Keen. The men's orange race competitors are Rory Lieberman, Silas Ruth Kofi Fordjour and Liam Going.

In their previous outing at Franklin Park in Boston during the Battle in Beantown hosted by Boston College two weeks ago; Penn's men secured seventh place in the 8K course with 149 points. Dylan Throop led with a third-place finish at 23:51.4 followed by Luke Johnson (14th) and Sahil Dodda (30th). The women achieved second place scoring 101 points; Maeve Stiles finished third overall completing her 5K run in 17:06.9 alongside teammates Olivia Morganti (sixth), Lily Murphy (27th), and Fabianna Szorenyi (29th).

Another group participated in Lehigh's Paul Short Run Women’s Brown Race taking fourth place; Anastasia Russell was first among Quakers clocking 22:18.7 placing eighteenth.
