Penn College achieved a three-game sweep against Penn State Berks in a United East baseball doubleheader on Saturday. The Wildcats improved their record to 3-3 in the United East and 11-11 overall, following an 8-0 win in the first game and an 11-5 victory in the second. Meanwhile, the Nittany Lions' record fell to 2-9-1 in conference play and 3-20-1 overall.

In the opening game, Penn College established an early lead with RBI singles from Adam Aldenderfer and Matt Munoz, resulting in a score of 2-0. The team extended their advantage to 6-0 by scoring four runs in the second inning. Quinn Hanafin's double contributed two runs, while Shawn Townsend and an error accounted for additional scores. Both Townsend and Aldenderfer drove in another run each during the sixth inning.

Hanafin was instrumental at bat with three hits, supported by Dallas Griess, Brandon Shane, and Aldenderfer who each added two hits. Pitcher Griffin Vollman improved his season record to 2-1 after completing a shutout with only three hits allowed. He recorded four strikeouts alongside three walks.

The second game saw Penn College again taking an early lead of 2-0 by the third inning due to Jaiden Augustine's single and a sacrifice fly from Townsend. Although Berks managed to score one run back in their half of the third inning, Penn College responded robustly with five runs during the fourth inning—highlighted by Logan Hinnershitz's double, John Croasdale's single, and Griess hitting a three-run homerun.

Further extending their lead, Penn College added two more runs during both the fifth (via Croasdale’s two-run double) and seventh innings (through Hinnershitz’s RBI hit plus a wild pitch).

Augustine finished this matchup having secured four hits for PCT; Shane contributed three; whereas both Hinnershitz along with Croasdale garnered two hits apiece themselves too!
