Penn College's Peyton Mussina achieved a second-place finish in the Northeast Shootout, competing against 68 other players. The Wildcats ended in sixth place among 13 teams at the event held at DuPont Country Club.
Mussina started strong on Monday with a low score of 67 in the first round over the par 71, 6,584-yard DuPont Blue Course. He followed this with a score of 74 in the afternoon. Mussina concluded the tournament shooting even par for a total of 212 (-1).
Gavin Baer contributed to Penn College's efforts with scores of 77-77-74—228, securing him the 17th position. Will Orwig shot an overall score of 240 to finish in 37th place, Gunner Redmond scored 245 tying for 43rd, and Trevor Keaton completed his rounds with a total of 263, tying for 56th place.
Hamilton College and Swarthmore College tied for team honors with totals of 873 each. Farmingdale State followed closely in third place with a total score of 876. The top ten was completed by Albright College (909), SUNY Delhi (917), Penn College (925), Arcadia University (948), Juniata College (957), Penn State Harrisburg (960), and Ursinus College (1,009).
Ramon Gonzalez from Hamilton led individually with impressive rounds totaling to a medal-winning score of 206.
The next competition for Penn College is scheduled for Friday at the Penn State Altoona Spring Invitational at Sinking Valley Country Club.
