Penn College secured third place among 11 teams, including six reigning conference champions, at the D-III Northeast Elite event held at Williamsport Country Club. The tournament was presented by Blaise Alexander Family Dealerships. Wildcat Peyton Mussina achieved a notable second-place finish in a field of 58 golfers.
Peyton Mussina shot rounds of 71 and 72 for a total of 143 on the par 71 course measuring 6,516 yards. His teammate Trevor Keaton recorded scores of 79 and 76, tying for 11th place with a total of 155. Will Orwig and Gavin Baer both scored a total of 158 to tie for 20th, while Gunner Redmond finished in the 45th position with scores totaling 171.
The Penn College "B" team also participated. Sam Wetmiller led this group with scores totaling 159, placing him tied for the 29th position. Brock Hamblin ended up tied for the 42nd position with a total score of 168. Brett Keenan and Logan Gawlinski both scored totals of 177 to tie for the 53rd position. Luke Brooks completed his rounds with a total score of 179, finishing in the 56th position.
Franklin & Marshall emerged as the team champion with rounds totaling to a score of 603, followed by Swarthmore at second place with scores totaling to 612. Penn College finished third with scores adding up to a total of 614. The competition included teams such as Washington and Jefferson, Dickinson, Penn State Altoona, Scranton, Hood College, Mount Aloysius and Penn College B.
Shane Lawler from Franklin & Marshall claimed individual honors by medaling with rounds scoring at totals of two under-par over two days.
Next on Penn College's schedule is participation in the Drew University Birdie Bash scheduled for Thursday at Flanders Valley Golf Course.
