State grants totaling almost $5 million have been awarded to improve sewer and water systems in Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties. The announcement came from Senator Dave Argall, Representative Dane Watro, and Representative Mike Cabell. These grants aim to ensure clean drinking water and prevent sewage from entering the local creeks.
Senator Argall highlighted the importance of improved water infrastructure, stating, "By ensuring clean drinking water and preventing sewage from entering our creeks, improved water infrastructure affects so many of our communities." He also emphasized the significance of the competitive state funds in supporting these projects.
Representative Watro emphasized the financial challenges faced by municipalities in the Commonwealth, stating, "Construction costs are on the rise for municipalities across the Commonwealth. That’s why it’s so important state funding like this is available to help complete infrastructure improvements they otherwise may not be able to afford." Watro expressed his satisfaction in working with Senator Argall and local leaders to identify these projects and advocate on their behalf.
Representative Cabell expressed his gratitude for the funding, pointing out its importance for Freeland's municipal authority and small towns in general. He stated, "This funding will help Freeland’s municipal authority with vital infrastructure, and it’s an example of public money being well-spent. I know how important grants like these are to the small towns I represent."
The grants will support various projects aimed at improving the sewer and water systems in Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties. These projects are expected to have a significant impact on the communities by providing essential infrastructure upgrades.
The importance of clean drinking water and efficient sewage management cannot be underestimated. These grants will not only address immediate infrastructure needs but also contribute to the overall well-being and quality of life for residents in Luzerne and Schuylkill Counties.
