PSAC Cross Country Athletes of the Week – 2

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selected this week’s cross country athletes of the week. The PSAC office selected Ian Zimmerman and Malia Anderson of California (Pa.).

Ian Zimmerman

Sophomore

Bedford, Pa. / Northern Bedford County

 

Zimmerman registered the first individual title of his career on Saturday, as the Vulcans opened the season by winning the Daemen Alumni Invitational. He won the eight-kilometer race held in the Buffalo area by over 22 seconds with a time of 26 minutes, 52.8 seconds. Zimmerman helped California earn the team title with 20 points, marking the program’s first invitational title since September 2019.Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Greensburg, Pa. / Greensburg Salem

 

Anderson placed fourth overall at the Daemen Alumni Invitational, as California opened its season by placing second in the team standings at the six-kilometer event. She crossed the finish line with a time of 19 minutes, 33.1 seconds while in a field of 50-plus runners. The Vulcans placed second in the standings with 43 points behind a trio of top-10 finishes.
