Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference issued the following announcement on Apr. 4.
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference selected this week’s baseball athletes of the week. From the East, Millersville’s Bren Taylor and Shippensburg’s Noah Nabholz were selected, while in the West, Mercyhurst’s Josh Surowiec and Gannon’s Eric Sapp were picked.

Bren Taylor helped Millersville to a 3-1 week with a series win over nationally-ranked East Stroudsburg by going 8-for-18 at the plate with a team-high seven runs and five RBIs. Taylor had at least two hits in three of four games, reached base in all four, and had two doubles, a triple and a homer in the week. Against Wilmington, he went 2-for-5 with three runs, three RBIs, a triple and a homer. He totaled six hits and four runs scored in the series against East Stroudsburg, including a 3-for-5 performance in the comeback win in game three.

Noah Nabholz threw a complete game with one unearned run, three singles, walked one and three strikeouts in a 6-1 victory over Lock Haven.

Surowiec put together a very nice week over three games helping the Lakers to a 2-1 record. He hit .545 (6-for-11) with five RBIs and had one double. He also tallied a pair of stolen bases. He currently leads the PSAC in batting average at .478 (33-for-69). The mark is also third in NCAA Division II.

The lefthander threw his third straight shutout while holding a hard-hitting Mercyhurst team to just two hits in a 1-0 win. He allowed two walks while striking out a career-high 15 batters. He wrapped up his gem by striking out the side in the seventh inning. He improved to 4-0 with the win. Sapp was in trouble just once, facing a bases loaded situation with two outs in the top of the sixth. He would induce a pop out to get out of the inning. Over his last three starts, Sapp has allowed 10 hits and 6 walks in 21 innings while striking out 28.
