Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference issued the following announcement on Mar. 8.
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference office announced this week’s women’s lacrosse athletes of the week. In the PSAC East, Gianna LeDuc of East Stroudsburg University was named Athlete of the Week and Paige Stoner of Shepherd University earned Defensive Athlete of the Week. From the PSAC West, Maggie Newton of Mercyhurst University received Athlete of the Week and Hannah Sharkey of Indiana University of Pennsylvania was the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Gianna LeDuc led East Stroudsburg to a 2-0 week in non-conference play. Against Jefferson, she scored an unassisted goal and added three assists. In the win over Georgian Court, LeDuc scored five goals — four unassisted — and contributed three assists.

Paige Stoner helped Shepherd to an 11-9 win over Frostburg State. She caused six turnovers and picked up four ground balls. Stoner won four draw controls and scored a goal in the first quarter.

Maggie Newton led Mercyhurst to two non-conference wins this week. Against D’Youville, she scored six goals and picked up a ground ball. Newton scored three goals and dished out three assists in addition to causing two turnovers and picking up two ground balls in the win over Tiffin.
