Lock Haven University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 29.

After securing back-to-back weekend road wins, the Lock Haven University field hockey team returned home to host a tough Cornell University (4-3) squad tonight on Charlotte Smith Field. It was a tightly contested clash, but in the end, the visitors topped Lock Haven (3-5), 1-0 in non-conference action.

Caroline Ramsey scored early in the second quarter and the goal stood as the game-deciding mark.

For Lock Haven, goalkeeper Joaquina Orlandini (Concordia, Argentina/San Antonio School) continued her strong play. She made two saves, including a stretched-out kick save in the first half.

Brooke Hofsass (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin), Karina Long (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) and Morgan Becker (West Chester, Pa./Bayard Rustin) turned in notable efforts for The Haven.

The Bald Eagles pushed hard in the final quarter and Martina Spangenberg (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Piaget) provided the best chance to tie the match, but her shot pushed just wide of the cage with five minutes to play.

Up next for LHU:

The Bald Eagles will travel to Rider University for a 12 p.m. non-conference match on Sunday, October 3.
