Penn College archers participated in their first competitive meet in nearly two years at the USA Indoor Nationals, held over the weekend at James Madison University. The team achieved five top 10 finishes among a field of 500 archers.
Dyson Renn led the Wildcats by securing first place in men's bowhunter. Noah Burke and Grant Walters each earned fifth-place finishes in men's compound and men's barebow, respectively. Atley Cooper placed seventh in men's bowhunter, while Jonathon Vough finished ninth in men's compound.
Coach Dustin Bartron expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, stating, "I am very pleased with the guys' performances this weekend. Penn College is definitely the stronger team in the Eastern Region as we come out of indoor competition and we are headed into outdoor competition." He added that they have identified strengths and areas for improvement as they prepare for upcoming events. "I am looking forward to seeing our successes at outdoor regionals," Bartron said.
The next event for Penn College will be the USA Eastern Region Collegiate Championships on April 23-24, also taking place in Harrisonburg.
