The West Chester University Golden Rams (15-4) defeated the Adelphi University Panthers (13-9), 10-1 in the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Quarterfinals Sunday. With the win, the Golden Rams will head to Seattle, Washington for the DII Semifinals.
Three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference programs are in the DII Semifinals that will begin Tuesday.
WCU’s 10-1 win over Adelphi set them up for a meeting with Shippensburg University (15-3) in the DII semis.
The other PSAC Field Hockey team in the DII semis who will play Assumption University (15-5) is East Stroudsburg University (18-2)
The DII Semifinals will be Thursday, December 1 with times still to be announced. The winners of those games will play in the Championship Match Saturday, December 3 at 4 p.m.
INDIANAPOLIS --- The East Stroudsburg University Warriors, the Shippensburg University Raiders and West Chester University Golden Rams were all selections into the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Tournament Monday. The three PSAC programs along with the three other institutions will make up the six-team tournament bracket. The first round of games will be at the higher seed. The winners of those games will join the one and two-seeds and head to Seattle, Washington for the NCAA DII Fall Festival.
Fresh off their PSAC Championship, ESU (18-2) was selected as the No. 1 seed and will get a first-round bye. The Warriors come in having won five-in-a-row including their conference championship clincher in OT against Millersville. They will await the winner of No. 4 Assumption (14-5) and No. 5 St. Anselm (14-6).
The No. 2 team is Shippensburg (15-3) and they also get a first-round bye. The Raiders are the defending NCAA DII National Champions and will look to make a run in the tournament once again.
The last PSAC team in the six-team tournament is No. 3 West Chester (14-4). The Golden Rams will host No .6 Adelphi (13-8) in the first round. The winner of WCU an Adelphi will play Shippensburg in the next round.
The first games of the DII Field Hockey Tournament will be at 1 p.m. November 27 at the higher seeds.
