Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference issued the following announcement on June 14.
The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference has released the 2022 major award winners for the men’s outdoor track & field season, the league office announced Tuesday.
The awards are determined by a vote of the league’s head coaches. The top three finishers in each event at the PSAC Championships are recognized as all-conference performers. Full List Here
Seton Hill’s Samuel Hartman earned his second consecutive Men’s Track Athlete of the Year honor after winning the award in 2021. In 2022, he was an NCAA National Qualifier in the 110 Hurdles and 400 Hurdles. He finished the season ranked seventh in 110H and 10th in 400H. He was the PSAC Champion in both events at the outdoor championships in May.
Slippery Rock graduate student Dalton Anderson was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Year just a couple weeks removed from him winning the Atlantic Region Field Athlete of the Year award. In May, he claimed the PSAC Championship crown in the javelin and had the No. 1 mark in the region. He finished eighth in the DII National Championships in the javelin and was the only PSAC male athlete to score any points at the National Championships.
Joining Anderson as a major award winner is his teammate AJ Virata claiming Men’s Freshman of the Year. Virata was the PSAC Champion in the high jump earlier this year, while also competing in the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, finishing as the PSAC runner-up in both events. He scored 26 points at the PSAC Championships and was an all-conference finisher in all three events.
Coach of the Year on the PSAC men’s side of outdoor track & field is Shippensburg’s Dave Osanitsch. This honor comes after he guided the Raiders to another PSAC Title. On June 6, Osanitsch was also named the 2022 U.S. Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association’s USTFCCCA) Atlantic Region Coach of the Year.
