DETROIT – The Lock Haven University men's wrestling team wrapped up an outstanding 2021-22 campaign as it concluded action in the consolation rounds of the 2022 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships at Detroit's Little Caesars Arena.

Two more Bald Eagles were in action today in consolation wrestlebacks during session three of the tournament.

Anthony Noto (Lima, N.Y./Honeoye Falls-Lima (NC State)) squared off with Missouri's Noah Surtin in the second round of wrestlebacks at 125 pounds, and conceded a fall late in the third period. Noto notched an escape early in the third to claw to within a 4-3 tally. In the process of pushing for the winning takedown, Noto was caught by the Tigers' 125-pounder for the late-bout fall.

The Bald Eagles' redshirt freshman capped an incredible opening year for LHU compiling a 31-3 record on the season. Along with becoming an NCAA Qualifier as a freshman, Noto also captured a Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship in his sensational 2021-22 campaign in a Crimson and White singlet.

Isaac Reid (Saltsburg, Pa./Kiski) was also in action in the session and battled with the No. 10 seed Nathan Traxler of Virginia Tech. Traxler secured the lone takedown of the opening period, and took a 2-1 lead into the second after Reid notched an escape. Reid fell behind in the second, and headed into the final period down by a 5-2 score. The Bald Eagles' 285-pounder battled back and notched an escape and a takedown in the third to knot things up at 5-5, but was unable to hold Traxler down and the Virginia Tech wrestler picked up the late-bout escape to slip away with the 6-5 win.

Reid capped his season with a 22-4 record, including 7-0 in conference duals, and as a MAC runner-up. The Saltsburg, Pa. native became a first-time NCAA qualifier in his tremendous debut season with The Haven.

For the Bald Eagles it marks the end of an unforgettable campaign which saw LHU win both the MAC East Division Regular Season title and MAC Tournament Championship for the first time in program history. The Bald Eagles sent half of its lineup to the NCAA Championships and won seven consecutive duals to close the season and compile a 10-5 dual record.

In just their second full season of competition in the MAC, head coach Scott Moore and the Bald Eagles completed a remarkable turnaround to win the MAC crown after finishing at the bottom of the league the season before. Picked to finish 11th in the preseason, the Bald Eagles silenced the doubters on their way to the 2022 title.
