A $750,000 grant has been awarded to upgrade Park Hill Road in Tioga Township, Tioga County, according to an announcement from Rep. Clint Owlett (R-Tioga/Bradford) and Sen. Gene Yaw (R-23).
Rep. Owlett stated, “Especially in rural areas like ours, our roads and bridges are vital to connecting us with economic and recreational opportunities, and to one another. This project is a major win for the community, and I appreciate the opportunity to work with Sen. Yaw and our local officials to make it happen.”
Sen. Yaw added, “Today’s award will enhance public safety and ensure our region’s infrastructure meets the needs of residents for years to come. I was pleased to join Rep. Owlett in advocating for this funding to help make these projects a reality.”
The township plans to use full depth reclamation with cement and 19mm Superpave asphalt for the road upgrade. The project will widen the paved section of Park Hill Road, install guardrails for improved safety, and add upgraded signage and pavement markings. These changes are intended to provide better industrial access for timber harvests as well as oil and gas exploration operations. The improvements will also allow for hiking, biking, and snowmobile connectivity between Gamelands #37 and Tioga Borough.
In addition to enhancing safety, the new road design is expected to improve access between Tioga Borough businesses such as restaurants, sporting goods stores, and gas stations.
The grant comes from the Multimodal Transportation Fund program aimed at encouraging economic development while maintaining safe transportation across Pennsylvania.
Senator Gene Yaw represents communities in Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Tioga, and Union counties and chairs the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee. He has served as Lycoming County solicitor and provides counsel to the Pennsylvania College of Technology official website. He has also contributed time coaching youth sports official website.
