State Senator Gene Yaw announced the allocation of $530,000 for two projects in Union County. The funding was approved during a Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) meeting held in Harrisburg.

The Lewisburg Area School District's Donald H. Eichhorn Middle School received $500,000 from the Public School Facility Improvement Grant (PSFIG) Program. This grant will be used to replace the roof of the 60-year-old building, which is currently leaking and nearing the end of its service life. "It is critical that we support efforts to improve aging infrastructure in many of our local schools, some of which haven’t seen significant upgrades in decades," said Yaw. "The funding approved today will be incredibly impactful for the school."

Additionally, Buffalo Township Municipal Sewer Authority was awarded $30,000 through the Local Share Account (LSA) Statewide program. This funding will facilitate the purchase of a new pick-up truck to replace their 1994 model. The vehicle will assist with transporting personnel, hauling equipment, making deliveries, plowing snow, and performing other maintenance tasks. "The funding approved today is a valuable investment that will help Buffalo Township make much-needed upgrades to their maintenance equipment," Yaw added.

The PSFIG Program offers grants for facility improvement projects to public school districts and area career and technical schools. It is managed by the Department of Community and Economic Development under CFA oversight.

Established in 2004 as an independent agency within Pennsylvania’s Department of Community and Economic Development, the CFA administers economic stimulus programs using gaming revenues distributed under the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71). The CFA evaluates applications based on cost-effectiveness, strategic importance, and potential impact.
