On February 14, 2024, Representative Stephanie Borowicz of the 76th House District announced over $350,000 in funding for Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) grants. The grants, which were awarded by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC) within the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), will benefit various fire and EMS companies in the district.
In a statement, Rep. Borowicz expressed her gratitude towards the first responders who put their lives on the line for the community, saying, "Our first responders voluntarily put their lives on the line for all of us! We owe them a debt of gratitude for all the sacrifices they and their families make."
The funding will be distributed among several fire and EMS companies in the 76th District. Among the recipients are the Avis Volunteer Fire Company, the Beech Creek Blachard Volunteer Fire Company, and the Buck Tail Medical Center in Clinton County. In Union County, the Mifflinburg House Company No. 1, the Union County West End Ambulance & Rescue Association, and the William Cameron Engine Company are among the grant recipients.
