State Senator Eugene Yaw | Pennsylvania
State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Clint Owlett have announced that Tioga County will receive $289,902 in state funding. The funding comes from the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) and will support three projects in the county.
The CFA Board approved the funding during a recent meeting. The projects were selected for funding through the Small Water and Sewer Program (SWS) and the PA Arts and Culture Recovery Program (PACR).
Both Senator Yaw and Representative Owlett expressed their satisfaction with the funding awards. Senator Yaw stated, "The funds approved today are valuable investments that are good for our citizens and good for our environment. I was pleased to work with Rep. Owlett and our local officials to help make these projects a reality." Representative Owlett added, "These grants are important investments in both public health and quality of life here in Tioga County. These are the types of things we can accomplish when we all work together at the community and state levels."
The largest award of $260,000 went to Elkland Borough for its Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation Project. June Woodard, the Elkland Authority Board Chairman, expressed gratitude for the funding, stating, "Elkland Borough, as a small community in Tioga County, greatly appreciates being chosen as a recipient of the PA Small Water and Sewer Grant. These funds will update and rehabilitate the borough's aging Wastewater Treatment facilities in hopes to allow growth within our community."

The grants were funded from multiple sources, with the largest contribution coming from the federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). These funds were allocated for recreation and conservation as part of previous Pennsylvania state budgets.
