State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Tina Pickett have announced that over $500,000 in state funding has been awarded to two projects in Bradford County. The funds were approved through the Commonwealth Financing Authority's Small Water and Sewer Program and the PA Culture Recovery Program.

Sen. Yaw expressed his satisfaction with the approved funds, stating, "The funds approved today are valuable investments that are good for our citizens and good for our environment. I was pleased to work with Rep. Pickett and our local officials to help make these projects a reality."

Rep. Pickett highlighted the importance of state grants for water and sewer projects, stating, "When state grants are awarded for water and sewer projects, the funding often makes it possible for our local municipalities to do critical upgrades that are difficult for ratepayers on smaller systems to afford." She also emphasized the benefits of the second grant for the Arts Council, which enhances the quality of life in the communities and brings economic activity to surrounding businesses.

One of the projects receiving funding is the replacement of approximately 1,100 linear feet of existing sanitary sewer mains along SR 1039. This project will provide approximately 60 residents with new service connections and improved accessibility for TMA maintenance. Towanda Borough and Municipal Authority Manager, Lauren Hotaling, expressed her gratitude for the support from Sen. Yaw and Rep. Pickett, stating, "As always, the support for upgrades to our infrastructure from Sen. Yaw and Rep. Pickett is greatly appreciated."

The grants are funded from multiple sources, with the largest being federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money appropriated for recreation and conservation as part of previous Pennsylvania state budgets.
