Buccigross helped IUP win the University of Charleston Invitational Tuesday with a score of 140 in a two-round tournament. He shot a 69 (-2) on day one and a 71 (E) on day two. He was the top IUP finisher and tied for  third-place overall. Four IUP men’s golfers placed in the top-20.

Henry aided Mercyhurst in a third-place team finish at the University of Charleston Invitational. Over the two-day tournament, Henry was the top Hurst finisher placing fourth overall in the tournament with a score of 151. On day one she shot a 76 (+4) and on day two she was one-stroke better shooting a 75 (+3).Field Hockey

Agus Garibaldi totaled four goals and three assists in two games played this weekend, with a .666 shooting percentage. She scored her first career hat trick against Newberry, and assisted the first and third goal that resulted in Shippensburg winning 5-2. All four of her shots were on goal. She also scored a goal against Mount Olive, and assisted on the third goal that resulted in Shippensburg winning 4-1. She had two shots on goal.Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week

Megan Gula registered a pair of shutouts over the weekend to lead West Chester to another 2-0 week and a 4-0 start to the season. Gula started her week against Mount Olive, making three saves over the course of her 60 minutes to pick up her first shutout of the season before adding two more saves against No. 10 New Haven on Sunday for her second shutout in as many games.

Zimmerman registered the first individual title of his career on Saturday, as the Vulcans opened the season by winning the Daemen Alumni Invitational. He won the eight-kilometer race held in the Buffalo area by over 22 seconds with a time of 26 minutes, 52.8 seconds. Zimmerman helped California earn the team title with 20 points, marking the program’s first invitational title since September 2019.Women’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week

Anderson placed fourth overall at the Daemen Alumni Invitational, as California opened its season by placing second in the team standings at the six-kilometer event. She crossed the finish line with a time of 19 minutes, 33.1 seconds while in a field of 50-plus runners. The Vulcans placed second in the standings with 43 points behind a trio of top-10 finishes.

Leah Bermudez contributed two phenomenal goals this week, coming up from her defensive position to connect on two excellent headers from corner kicks that were pivotal in earning Gannon two wins. Both goals gave Gannon a 1-0 lead at the time. Bermudez was also pivotal in defense, playing the entire 90 minutes in both contests, as the Golden Knights did not allow a goal all week, shutting out Edinboro 3-0 and Clarion 2-0.

Emma Yoder paced Slippery Rock to an unbeaten week with two contests ending in ties. First a 2-2 draw against IUP followed by a 1-1 split at Mercyhurst. Yoder made 11 saves over two games including a season-high seven against the Lakers after facing a total of 28 shots.

Faith Matter had a huge day for West Chester on Saturday versus Lock Haven, contributing to each of the Golden Rams three goals on the afternoon, ending her day with four points as West Chester remained unbeaten to open the season. Matter started her day with an assist on the Golden Rams first goal, a beautiful corner kick into the box, which freshman teammate Emily Deluisi found her way on to the end of to give West Chester a late first-half lead. Matter scored a goal of her own midway through the second half off an assist from Kaitlynn Haughey before registering her second assist of the game off a corner, which found Alyson Cutter to give West Chester a 3-0 lead that the Golden Rams would not relinquish.

Hayley McGee registered her second shutout of the season on Saturday afternoon against Lock Haven, making five big saves to stymie the Bald Eagle offense throughout the afternoon. This shutout also allowed McGee to continue her climb up the career shutout leaderboard, passing Heather Rinker for eighth in team history in shutouts after notching her 11th on Saturday afternoon.Men's Soccer

Trevor Looby enjoyed a standout week, scoring a pair of goals, including one game-winner to help West Chester start PSAC East play a perfect 2-0. Looby started his week at Shippensburg on Wednesday afternoon where he scored the second goal of the game, which gave West Chester a comfortable 2-0 lead at the midway point of the second half. On Saturday afternoon at home against Lock Haven, Looby came through for West Chester in a big way, scoring a clutch goal in the 69th minute off a beautiful assist from goalkeeper Daniel Good to give West Chester a 1-0 lead over Lock Haven entering the late stages of the contest.

Daniel Good turned in a stellar week for West Chester, registering a pair of shutouts to extend his shutout streak to 307 minutes, while also coming through with a clutch assist on the Golden Rams first goal of the game versus Lock Haven. Good started his week on the road at Shippensburg and made three saves en route to his 15th career shutout, which moved him into a tie for second in program history in career shutouts. Saturday against Lock Haven, Good played well once again, making three more saves and adding an assist off a booming punt, which found its way to the top of the 18 on the opposite end of the field on one bounce, which allowed Trevor Looby to unleash a perfect strike and give West Chester a 1-0 lead. Saturday afternoon’s shutout was also the 16th of Good’s Golden Ram career, moving him into solo second-place in career shutouts, just one shutout shy of tying Matt Palmer’s (2014-17) record of 17.

This week Brady Olsen collected an assist and scored the game-tying goal on Saturday, as the Vulcans rallied to post a 2-2 tie at Ohio Dominican in non-conference play. California trailed 2-0 at halftime before he assisted on a goal in the 66th minute. Olsen then tied the score with his first career goal at the 83:05-mark.

Hossam Aly earned his first shutout victory of the season after a 1-0 win over the District of Columbia. Facing five shots, he recorded four saves while allowing no goals over 90 minutes. Aly’s six saves per game currently rank first in the PSAC.Volleyball

Jamie Byrne turned in a pair of strong efforts for West Chester on Saturday to lead the Golden Rams to a pair of victories over Nyack and Lincoln in a home tri-match inside Hollinger Field House. Against Nyack to start the day, Byrne registered 19 digs and one block but also logged a career-high six aces to help lead West Chester to its first victory of the day by a final of 3-0. In the nightcap vs Lincoln, Byrne logged 21 more assists to go along with four kills and three aces, leading West Chester to another 3-0 victory to go 2-0 on the afternoon.

Coulter helped the Warriors to a 2-2 weekend as she produced 2.42 kills (29 total), 1.08 blocks (13 total) and 0.67 digs (8 total) per set. The freshman currently ranks tied for 8th in the PSAC with 31 blocks this season.

Cole led the Griffins to a 3-0 record at their own tournament this past weekend. Paige ended the weekend with 52 kills and 30 digs. She only had 8 errors in 94 attempts, hitting .468 on the weekend. Cole had a career high 27 kills in the five-set win over Point Park. Paige had 12 kills and only one error in 18 attempts vs Concord.

Abigail Selfridge became the most recent player in program history to top 1,000 career digs, as she helped the Golden Eagles to a 3-1 record at the Atlantic Region Crossover hosted by Wheeling and West Liberty. The junior libero totaled 81 digs over the weekend - an average of 5.06 digs per set - as Clarion improved to 10-1 on the season. She was also instrumental in the team's win on the final day of the Wildcat Den Classic hosted by Daemen, with 18 digs in three sets against Franklin Pierce. Selfridge became the 17th player in program history to eclipse the 1,000 Dig mark.Football

Brown put together a ridiculous game on the ground for Shepherd in their 41-7 victory over Edinboro. He carried the ball 15 times for 278 yards and three touchdowns averaging 18.5 yards per carry. He added three receptions for 42 yards totaling 320 all-purpose yards on the day.

Holloway had a great defensive showing for the Rams in their 41-7 win over Edinboro. He registered seven tackles (four solos) and 3.0 TFL’s. He added 2.5 sacks for -12 yards, forced a pair of fumbles and recovered a fumble as well.

Sophomore Redd Douglas set a single-game school record with 350 all-purpose yards and scored three touchdowns as the Shippensburg University football team opened the home portion of its 2022 schedule with a 36-17 victory over Seton Hill in non-conference football action at SU Student Association Field at Seth Grove Stadium. Douglas was all over the field for the Raiders – totaling 233 kickoff return yards, 113 receiving yards and four punt return yards en route to his school record. The 233 kickoff return yards are seven short of the single-game record set by Shannon Maura in 2013 against East Stroudsburg. Douglas is the first player in school history to have 200 or more kickoff return yards and 100 or more receiving yards in the same game. He averaged 58.2 yards per return over the course of four returns. Late in the second quarter, Douglas fielded a kickoff two yards deep in his endzone and ran down the sideline almost untouched for a 100-yard kickoff touchdown - his second kickoff return TD in as many weeks. Douglas nearly had a second kickoff return for a touchdown, as he had an 87-yard return late in the third quarter. Douglas broke the previous SU single-game record of Mike Frenette (330 all-purpose yards) set in 2012 against Millersville (190 rushing yards, 39 receiving yards, 103 kickoff return yards).

D'Or topped 100 rushing yards for the first time in his career in just his second start when he ran for 108 yards and one touchdown on the road at West Chester in a 35-14 win for Slippery Rock. D'Or averaged 7.7 yards per carry and racked up those 108 yards on just 14 carries. He also caught three passes for 19 yards to finish with 127 total yards in the game.

Ferretti had an impressive defensive contest for the Lakers in their 49-7 win over Lock Haven. He totaled 12 tackles (8 solo), two TFL’s, 1.0 sack for a loss of 14 yards and had a 32-yard pick-6.

Wiitanen made himself known in a couple areas of play in Gannon’s 16-10 win over Millersville. Not only did he have 5 tackles (3 solo) and a 0.5 tackle for loss, but he also blocked a punt which went out of bounds in the endzone for the first points of the game for Gannon.
