Over $110,000 in state funding has been awarded to a recreation project in Loyalsock Township, Lycoming County. The grant comes from the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ Community Conservation Partnerships Program (C2P2).
The funds will be used for upgrades at James Short Park. Planned improvements include building an amphitheater and pedestrian walkway, installing lighting and utilities, making the park accessible under ADA guidelines, landscaping, adding a project sign, and other site enhancements.
“I’m excited to see the upgrades to the James Short Park,” Rep. Jamie Flick said. “Loyalsock Township residents should benefit from creating more outdoor recreational opportunities like the added amphitheater and other added improvements. It was a pleasure to work with Sen. Yaw in securing this grant.”
Sen. Gene Yaw commented on the significance of investing in local parks: “Investing in our local parks and recreation facilities enhances quality of life and strengthens our communities. These improvements will provide families and residents with safe, modern spaces to enjoy for years to come and I’m thankful to Rep. Flick for working with me to secure this funding.”
The C2P2 program receives financial support from several state and federal sources such as the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund (Key 93), Environmental Stewardship Fund (ESF), Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF), Pennsylvania Trails Fund (PRT), Pennsylvania Heritage Area Program (HA), and ATV Restricted Management Account Fund.
