Fire and emergency response organizations in Pennsylvania’s 83rd District will receive nearly $215,000 in state funding, according to an announcement from Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union). The funds are part of a grant program overseen by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and the Office of the State Fire Commissioner, with resources drawn from state gaming revenue.
“I’m grateful to see these fire and EMS providers receive this funding because they keep our communities safe and save lives,” Flick said. “This funding is critical and helps to provide essential needs to keep operations running and ensure they can respond when emergencies happen. I will continue to look for ways to secure additional resources to ensure our first responders have the tools they need to keep us safe.”
The grants will be distributed among several organizations in Lycoming County, including Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, DuBoistown Ambulance Service, DuBoistown Fire Department, Independent Fire Company No. 1 of South Williamsport, Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Company No. 1, Montgomery Volunteer Fire Company, South Williamsport Fire Department, Williamsport Area Ambulance Service Cooperative Susquehanna Regional EMS, and Williamsport Bureau of Fire.
In Union County, White Deer Township Volunteer Fire Company will also receive funds for both EMS and fire services.
The grant program supports a range of projects such as facility construction or renovation, equipment purchase or repair, training programs, recruitment efforts, educational initiatives on fire safety, and debt reduction. All companies that apply and meet requirements set by the Office of the State Fire Commissioner are eligible for funding after filing a grant agreement.
