The Pennsylvania State Senate has declared the week of April 20th to 26th, 2025, as “Conservation District Week,” according to Senator Gene Yaw (R-23). The resolution, known as Senate Resolution 69, was co-sponsored by Sen. Elder Vogel (R-47).

Conservation districts throughout the state will organize events and hold meetings with legislators to discuss local conservation concerns during this designated week.

Senator Yaw emphasized the important role these districts play: “Through leadership, education and planning, our county conservation districts are committed to protecting our natural resources. They are the boots on the ground, and they work to develop programs and projects consistent with environmental stewardship.  I am proud to extend warm wishes to our county conservation districts and recognize the week of April 20th as ‘Conservation District Week’ in Pennsylvania.”

Amy Brown, acting director for the Pennsylvania Association of Conservation Districts (PACD), expressed enthusiasm for the week: “We are excited that Sen. Yaw and the PA Senate are celebrating Conservation District Week. During Conservation District Week, offices across the state will be celebrating with a variety of activities including sponsoring local Envirothons, seedling sales and much more. All of these events will showcase the projects districts work on every day promoting stewardship of our natural resources.”

PACD functions as a representative entity for the state’s 66 county conservation districts and contributes to their development through advocacy, education, and program coordination. The organization is known for addressing challenges in collaboration with private, federal, and state partners. This network supports local conservation efforts and anticipates future issues.
