State Senator Gene Yaw and State Representative Tina Pickett have announced a state investment of $508,080 for Sayre Borough. The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) during its board meeting and is part of the Multimodal Transportation Fund (MTF) Program.

Senator Yaw emphasized the importance of infrastructure maintenance, stating, “Maintaining and improving our roads, bridges and walkways is an essential component of ensuring the safety and mobility of the commuters and pedestrians who travel them each day.” He expressed satisfaction in collaborating with Rep. Pickett to support this investment.

Representative Pickett highlighted that the funds will be allocated to Phase III of Sayre’s ongoing streetscape project. “This funding will go toward Phase III of Sayre’s streetscape project, which has been underway for several years now,” she said. She added that these improvements are expected to enhance both the business district and residents’ quality of life.

The awarded funds will focus on streetscape enhancements in Sayre Borough’s downtown area, including new curbing, sidewalks, and roadway paving on various streets.

The Multimodal Transportation Fund aims to foster economic development while providing safe transportation systems for Pennsylvania residents. It supports projects related to transportation asset development, rehabilitation, enhancement, lighting, sidewalk improvements, pedestrian safety, connectivity, and transit-oriented development.
