The Senate Majority Policy Committee, led by Sen. Dave Argall, and the House Republican Policy Committee, headed by Rep. David Rowe, are set to visit Pittsburgh at Sen. Tracy Pennycuick’s invitation to discuss the advancement of artificial intelligence (AI) in Pennsylvania.

The hearing is open to the public and scheduled for Wednesday, April 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Astrobotic Technology on N Lincoln Ave. In highlighting the importance of this meeting, Sen. Pennycuick remarked, “As we look to the future, it’s crucial that we understand the opportunities and challenges posed by artificial intelligence. This discussion will help ensure Pennsylvania remains competitive, forward-thinking, and prepared to lead in this rapidly evolving field.”

Sen. Argall emphasized the importance of preparing the state for economic growth through AI, stating, “Artificial intelligence is the future. By learning from the experts at the forefront of this emerging industry, we can prepare Pennsylvania to effectively harness this technology and grow our economy.”

Rep. Rowe added that it is essential for policymakers to remain informed on the influence of AI: “Our job as policymakers is to stay ahead of the curve, and that means understanding how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence are shaping our economy, our workforce, and our daily lives. AI presents incredible opportunities, but also serious questions—and it’s our responsibility to ask them so that we can help our communities learn and prepare.”

Industry experts, educators, and business officials will be part of the panel, and the hearing will be broadcasted live on the Senate Majority Policy Committee’s website.
